MONTCLAIR, N.J. – The Washington College volleyball team fell in a pair of four-set matches on Saturday afternoon at the Panzer Athletic Center in non-conference tri-match. In the first match, Montclair St. took a 3-1 (25-18, 11-25, 25-15, 25-19) result and in the second contest, Hartwick came away with a 3-1 (9-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-23) decision.  Â

How It Happened
- In the first set, the Red Hawks led 15-13 before going on a 10-3 run to close out the set, clinching it on an assisted block.
- Washington took command of the second set with an 8-0 run to take a 10-3 lead on a
Lyndsey Wessel service ace on its way to a 14-point victory.
Giselle Kleinbussink tallied the final point on a kill from
Alexis Stubbs. WC hit .300 in the second set triumph.
- Montclair St. held a two-point advantage, 17-15, in the third set before taking the last eight points to win by 10 with a kill by home side ending the third.
- Ahead 17-15 in the fourth and final set, the Red Hawks won seven of the next eight points to lead 24-16. The Shorewomen would stave off three match points before a kill by the home side concluded the contest.

Anna Titter (15 digs to tie for contest-high),
Gianna Romano (13 digs), Stubbs (21 assists and two blocks), Wessel (career-best five aces)
- Team hit .093 in the contest, notched three blocks and recorded eight aces.

How It Happened
- Tied at 4-4 in the opening set, the Shorewomen used a 9-1 run to grab a 13-5 lead on a Stubbs ace. Stubbs would finish the set with a finisher from Kleinbussink to complete a 16-point set win. WC hit a robust .448 in the first.
- In the second set, Hartwick, who took the lead for good on the fifth point, led 22-15 before taking the final three points to win by 10. A kill by the Hawks ended the second.
- Trailing 24-20 in the third set, the Shorewomen won three consecutive points to trim the lead to 24-23 on an attack error by Hartwick. However, the Hawks took the two-point set win on a kill.

Gianna Folke snapped a 22-22 with a kill to make it 23-22 for the Shorewomen before Hartwick tallied the final three points to win the set and match. The Hawks would notch three consecutive kills to end the contest.
