Chestertown, MD- The Washington College Volleyball team hosted Penn State York in their home opener. The Shorewomen swept the Nittany Lions, 25-6, 25-10, and 25-23.

How It Happened
- The Shorewomen jumped out to a 5-0 lead over Penn State York in set one thanks two three aces by Alexis Stubbs and kills from Allison McKechnie and Izzy Diehl. PSU York earned three points before the Shorewomen battled to put themselves up 13-3. The Shorewomen would only allow three more points by the Nittany Lions before they finished the set, 25-6.
- Two service aces from Stubbs began set two for the Shorewomen. The Nittany Lions captured their only lead of the set soon after as they went up 3-2 over the Shorewomen. A ball handling error and attack error gave two points and the lead back to the Shorewomen. McKechnie followed those points up with a kill and Gianna Romano served up an ace to put the Shorewomen ahead, 6-3. The Nittany Lions moved the score to 7-5 off a service error and an ace. The Shorewomen went on an 18-5 run to end the set. Lyndsey Wessel and Gianna Folke each tallied four kills with Diehl adding in three on the run to earn set two for the Shorewomen, 25-10.
- Set three was the closest of the match, the Nittany Lions went up 6-1 over the Shorewomen early. Two errors put the Shorewomen within three, 6-3. Romano served up an ace to put the Shorewomen within striking distance. The score was back and forth until Penn State York went up 13-12. Two Diehl kills in a row followed by an Emma Shaner kill put the Shorewomen up 15-13. The set went on back and forth and the Shorewomen went on an 11-10 run fueled by kills from Shaner and Diehl who each recorded two more. The Shorewomen took the final set, 25-23.
