CHESTER, Pa. – Senior forward
Samantha McMahon (Bear, Del./Appoquinimink) scored the game-winning goal midway through the fourth quarter to break a 1-1 tie as visiting Washington College recorded a 3-1 win against host Widener on Wednesday evening at Edith R. Dixon Field in a non-conference field hockey game. The Shorewomen improved to 1-3 on the season, while the Pride dropped to 2-2.

MaryCate Anson broke the scoreless tie with 2:19 left in the second quarter on a play that started off of a penalty. The ball would find
MaryCate Anson, whose shot from the right side of the circle from about 10 yards out went in short side to give the Shorewomen a 1-0 lead and that was the halftime score.
- The Pride tied the game 5:35 into the third quarter, scoring on a second chance opportunity near the right post. It would be 1-1 after three stanzas.
- Washington would regain the lead with 7:12 to go in the fourth quarter at 2-1 off of a penalty as
Tara Radebaugh's feed from the top of the circle on the left side was tipped into the upper left part of the cage by McMahon near the center of the circle.

Ashley Swan would tally an insurance goal from Radebaugh with 2:24 left in the contest on a pass from Radebaugh that started off of a penalty corner. Swan would place the shot from the right side just inside the right post.
