How It Happened

  • Mary Washington went up over the Shoremen quick into the first half. They scored two minutes into the game.
  • The first shot for the Shoremen came seven minutes into the first half. Tucker Sprano was left without a defender in front of the goal. His shot was blocked by a Mary Washington defender who was able to run up on Sprano and protect the goal. Ethan Watson had his first look at the goal two minutes later, his shot was left high and right of the goal.
  • The Shoremen still trailed at the end of the first half, but led the Eagles in shots, six to their three, two of which were on goal.
  • Three minutes into the second half, the Eagles went up 2-0 over the Shoremen.
  • Sprano answered their goal with one of his own. He recieved a pass from Tshazi Kamau at the top of the box and weaved his way through two Eagles defenders and struck the ball at the top right of the box. His shot went over the hands of the Eagles goalie and hit the back of the net.
  • With 31:02 left in the second half, the Shoremen scored the equalizing goal to even the score 2-2. Kamau found Sprano yet again, this time on the left side of the goal as he was able to strike the ball off the right post straight into the back of the net.
  • With 10 minutes left, Sprano once again had the ball in front of the net. This time, the Eagles' goalie went to make a play on the ball, but Sprano was able to get around him and had a wide open look at the goal. His shot rolled in and put the Shoremen ahead, 3-2.
  • Mary Washington could not combat Sprano's offense and the Shoremen clenched the game, 3-2.
