Shorewomen Field Hockey Shutdown Owls, 4-0

Chestertown, MD - The Washington College Field Hockey team shutout the Owls of Bryn Mawr to secure their first conference win of the season. MaryCate Anson was involved in all scoring plays with one goal and three assists.

How it Happened 

  • The first score of the game came with nine minutes left in the first half. Samantha McMahon scored off a pass from MaryCate Anson. Her shot bounced off the goalie's foot and hit the back of the net to put the Shorewomen up, 1-0.   
  • The Shorewomen outshot the Owls four to two and held the lead at the end of the half.  
  • The second goal for the Shorewomen came 12 minutes into the third period. Madison Maguire was able to knock the ball out of the air as Anson passed the ball across the net. The Shorewomen led, 2-0.  
  • The Shorewomen scored twice in the final period to secure the win, 4-0. Anson entered the ball from the top of the arc right to Emma Campbell who was able to sweep the ball into the back of the net with a defender on her back. Ten minutes later, Anson took a penalty stroke for the Shorewomen and put the game away, 4-0.
