Chestertown, MD- The Washington College Men's Basketball team took Swarthmore to the wire, but came up short in conference battle. Swarthmore remains undefeated in conference play.

How It Happened
- The Shoremen hopped out to a 12-4 lead over Swarthmore in the first six minutes of the game. Nolan Waldon led the way with nine of the twelve points.
- The Garnet collected a 12-2 run late in the first half. They tied it up, 25-25 with four minutes left to play. Max Portnoy had the answer for the Shoremen as he sank a three pointer from a pass by Waldon.
- This sparked a 13-2 run for the Shoremen with back-to-back threes by Jaedon Harris and David Carr Jr. capping off the run. Swarthmore scored the last bucket of the half with an and one play, but the Shoremen still held an eight-point lead heading into the locker room, 38-30.
- Swarthmore took the lead out of the half, 40-38. Waldon answered with an immediate jumper to tie it back up, 40-40.
- The scoring was back and forth with neither team holding a larger lead than six points. With 12:40 to play, Portnoy completed a three point play after sinking a free throw following a made layup. The Shoremen took the lead, 49-48. That would be the last lead that the Shoremen would hold.
- Swarthmore was able to hold off the Shoremen for the rest of the game as they scored 23 more points to the Shoremen's 20. The Shoremen trailed, 71-68 with 9.6 seconds left on the clock. Nalty held the ball with three seconds remaining, but was met with heavy pressure from the Garnet defense. His only shot at the basket was a three from far behind the arc, the shot fell short as Swarthmore secured the win as the clock hit 0:00.
