Shoremen Never Trail in 17-7 Victory over Pride

Washington Scores Game’s First Nine Goals

CHESTER, Pa. – Visiting Washington College scored the game's first nine goals on its way to a 17-7 win against host Widener in non-conference men's lacrosse action on Wednesday night on Elizabeth J. Hirschmann Field at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium. The Shoremen are 2-0 on the year, while the Pride falls to 1-2.

How It Happened
- The Shoremen scored all four goals in the first quarter with Nate Winters opening the scoring 73 seconds into the game and Peyton Gestole netted the fourth and last score from Cam Carrigan with 2:01 left in the first.
- Washington scored the first five of the second stanza to lead 9-0 with 8:40 left before halftime on a man-up tally by Winters from Gestole.
- Widener netted the final two goals of the second to cut the visitors' lead to 9-2 at halftime.
- In the third, the Shoremen scored all three goals to take a 12-2 advantage into the fourth.
- Both teams scored five times in the fourth quarter to provide the final margin.

For The Shoremen (2-0)
- Scoring: Gestole (two goals, three assists), Gabe DellaPenna and Peyton Elder (two goals, one assist), Carrigan (goal and two assists), Winters and Talan Behler (two goals), Reeve Hargrave (goal and assist)
- In Goal: Skeet Hine (45:00, two goals allowed, four saves), Keegan Dunn (15:00, five goals allowed, two stops)
- Ronan Miller (game-high seven face-off wins), Gestole (five ground balls), Paxson Warnock (two caused turnovers)
- Washington registered 47 shots, was 14-for-17 in clears in the contest, won 17 face-offs and picked up 44 ground balls.
- The Shoremen had 15 turnovers, while causing 11 Widener turnovers.
