Randolph-Macon Sneak Past Shoremen In Overtime, 16-15

Ashland, VA – The Washington College men's lacrosse team fell to Randolph-Macon in OT, 16-15.

How it Happened  

  • Randolph-Macon scored first, one minute and fifteen seconds into the game. Jake Arcudi had the answer for the Shoremen as he scored off a Randolph-Macon turnover. The Shoremen had four different goal scorers in the first period to go up 5-3 over Randolph-Macon.  
  • Randolph-Macon outscored the Shoremen, 5-4 in the second period to sneak up within one of the Shoremen, 9-8. They tied it up 9-9 in the first three minutes of the second half and took the lead three minutes later, 10-9.  
  • Jake Laubach scored the equalizer for the Shoremen while a man down to tie the game 10-10 with 8:07 left in the third. With 7:18 to play, Ben Hazlehurst captured a ground ball for the Shoremen fueling Luca Signorello to put the Shoremen up one, 11-10. Less than a minute later, Laubach scored off an assist from Talan BehlerReeve Hargrave scored the final goal of the third period putting the Shoremen up, 13-11 heading into the final 15 minutes.  
  • Nate Winters and Peyton Gestole scored back-to-back for the Shoremen. Winters scored first and Gestole soon after thanks to a faceoff win by Washington and a ground ball pick up by Paxson Warnock. The Shoremen led, 15-12 with 8:46 left to play.  
  • Randolph-Macon scored three goals in the final 5:14 to force overtime. The Shoremen had zero shots in OT and Randolph-Macon scored off their only shot giving them the golden goal win, 16-15.
