Roadrunners Take Both from Shoremen, 3-2 and 8-1

Ruppel Homers in Game One and Plates Three in Twinbill

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting Ramapo took both ends of a non-conference baseball doubleheader from host Washington College on Sunday afternoon at Athey Baseball Park. The Roadrunners won game one, 3-2, and took game two in seven innings due to darkness, 8-1. The Roadrunners are now 3-0 on the season, while the Shoremen are 2-3.

How It Happened
- The Roadrunners scored the game's first run in the top of the fifth inning on an infield double with two outs as the Shoremen lost the ball in the sun.
- In the last of the fifth, the Shoremen took the lead on a two-run home run to left by Chase Ruppel with one away scoring Drew Kinsey ahead.
- Ramapo took the lead for good with a two-out, two-run triple to right-center to give the road side a 3-2 lead.
- Washington was retired in order in the final trips to the plate to end the game.

- Hitting: Ruppel (two RBI, home run), Kinsey (2-for-5, run)
- Pitching: Landon Friedman (loss 0-1, 1 2/3 innings, one hit, two runs, two earned, one walk, one strikeout), Michael Lewis (4 2/3 innings, two hits, one run, one earned, three walks, four strikeouts)
- Washington had four hits, drew four walks and got hit by pitches twice, while leaving nine on base.

How It Happened
- The Roadrunners scored five times without the aid of a hit in the top of the first, scoring the runs on two walks, a hit by pitch, ground out and sacrifice fly.
- Ramapo added two in the top half of the sixth on a two-run single with two away through the right side.
- Washington got its one run in the last of the sixth on a one out RBI groundout to second by Ruppel that drove in Kinsey.
- In the top of the seventh, Ramapo got its last run on a fielding error by the Shoremen with one away.

- Hitting: Kinsey (2-for-2, run, hit by pitch)
- Pitching: Aiden Moore (loss 0-1, zero innings, zero hits, five runs, three earned, four walks, zero strikeouts), Casey Edwards (four innings, three hits, zero runs, two walks, three strikeouts)
- Washington had one hit, two walks and had two get on via hit by pitch, while leaving five on base.
- The Shoremen made four errors in the game, leading to four Roadrunner runs.
