GEORGETOWN, Texas – Host Southwestern (Texas) spoiled visiting Washington College's second and final match in the Lone Star State with a 5-2 result on Wednesday afternoon on Henderson Courts in a non-conference women's tennis match.Â

Doubles
- The Pirates took the doubles point by capturing two of the three matches. The top flight ended first and it was Southwestern taking it by a 6-2 score against the tandem of
Soleil Namunyola and
Eva Kading. WC's pair of
Isabella Sorhegui and
Gaby Coutts tied doubles at a win apiece with a 6-2 victory at the third spot. The doubles point came down to second doubles and it was the Pirates edging the duo of
Jess Wilde and
Juanita Arbelaez by a 7-5 count.
Singles
- Sorhegui tied the match at 1-1 by winning the first singles match to reach its conclusion with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5.
- The Pirates retook the lead one minute later with a 6-2, 6-1 decision at second singles against Kading.
- Third singles gave Southwestern a 3-1 lead with a 6-2, 6-1 result versus Namunyola.
- Southwestern got the win at No. 4 singles versus
Sofia Sperandei, 6-4, 6-3.
- Wilde won in three sets at No. 6, taking the first set 7-5 before falling 6-2 in the middle set. In the third set, Wilde captured it 1-0 (10-5).
- In the last match to finish, Southwestern won at the top flight over Arbelaez, 6-4, 63.
Notes
- The Shorewomen slip to 5-3 on the season, while the Pirates are now 4-4.
