Winter Haven, FL– Washington College Softball splits on second to last day of Spring Break Compeition. The Shorewomen trailed Beloit until the bottom of the fifth where a six-run rally would tie the game. The Shorewomen grabbed the win in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a one run lead over Beloit.
Game 1: Washington College 13 Beloit 12
How It Happened
- Beloit held a 10-5 lead over the Shorewomen heading into the bottom of the fourth inning.
- Cece Johnston singled down the left field line to put herself on base. She then advanced on an error by the first baseman. Johnston scored on an error by the shortstop putting the Shoreeomen within four, 10-6.
- Beloit earned two runs in the top of the fifth, 12-6.
- The Shorewomen rallied in the bottom of the fifth with a six-run answer. Emma Trainer walked as the leadoff batter. Lilly Wenzel homered her in with a home run to left field and the Shorewomen were down four, 12-8. An error sent Grace Allen home who had singled after Wenzel, and another error sent Julia Weglarz home. The Shorewomen were down two, 12-10.
- Anna McCabe hit to the right fielder who dropped the ball allowing Jenna Harper to score and on the next at bat, Mia Filliben earned an RBI as she hit into a ground out, but advanced Johnston home. The score was tied, 12-12.
- Lilly Wenzel doubled to center field to start the bottom of the sixth inning. Lindsay Worley came in to pinch run for her. Worley advanced to third and then to home on separate wild pitches, the Shorewomen took the lead 13-12.
- In the top of the seventh Beloit had two runners on base with two outs. A ground out to third base ended the game with the Shorewomen on top, 13-12.
For the Shorewomen (4-5)

Game 2: Washington College 0 Dominican 9
How It Happened
- Lilly Wenzel recorded the first hit for the Shorewomen in the top of the second inning. Emma Trainer followed her hit with a single of her own. Wenzel was able to advance to third on an error by the left fielder. The two were left on base as Dominican was able to grab the last two outs of the half inning.
- Dominican took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third. They extended their lead to 9-0 by the end of the fourth inning. They recorded three straight outs in the top of the fifth to take the game, 9-0.
