FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Washington College and Heidelberg completed its suspended game from Sunday and played a regularly scheduled game on Friday at the Lawnwood Complex. The Student Princes won the resumed game from Sunday 20-10 and in the slated contest won on a walk-off from Shoremen 15-14. Heidelberg is 8-5 on the season, while Washington is 7-7.
Heidelberg (7-5) 20 Washington College (7-6) 10 – Completion of Sunday's Suspended Game
- After Heidelberg scored a run in the top of the first inning on a one-out sacrifice fly, Washington answered with a pair to take a 2-1 lead in the last of the first.
Ty Powell came home on a sac fly with nobody out by
Reese Hirsh to tie it and
Drew Kinsey scored on a double steal with one out to put the Shoremen ahead by a run.
- The Student Princes netted four runs in the top of the second with a two-run single to left capping the four-run frame with two away making it 5-2.
- Heidelberg added four more in the top of the third, scoring three of the four with two away to lead 9-2.
- Washington got one back in the bottom half of the third on a
Brady Wozniak double that drove in
Ty Everitt.
- In the bottom of the fourth, the Shoremen got a one-out, two-run single by Kinsey to knock in
Tahir Parker and Powell to cut it to 9-5 and then Ruppel socked a two-run homer that also scored Kinsey to cut it to 9-7 with one away.
- Heidelberg got one back in the top of the fifth on a two-out double to make it 10-7 and then plated seven runs in the top of the sixth to go ahead 17-7. Five straight hitters tallied RBI hits for the Student Princes for the seven runs.
- Before the game was suspended in the last of the sixth, Powell scored on a wild pitch and following the resumption of the game, Bady Wozniak drove in Kinsey on a groundout to cut the lead to 17-9 after six.
- Heidelberg added three runs in the top of the seventh before Washington got one in the last of the ninth to provide the final margin.

- The Shoremen had 17 hits, picked up nine walks and had one get on due to a hit by pitch, while stranding 10 runners.
- Washington had two errors in the game, leading to one unearned run for Heidelberg.

How It Happened
- Kinsey socked a leadoff home run on the second pitch of the game to put WC ahead. Three hitters later with one away,
Alex Dardaris singled up the middle to score Ruppel to make it 2-0 after the top of the first.
- The Shoremen made it 3-0 in the top of the second on a one-out sacrifice fly by Connolly to score
Matt Lewis.
- In the bottom of the second, the Student Princes scored six time to take a 6-3 lead. Trailing 3-1, three straight plate appearances led to runs with nobody to make it 5-3 on a two-run single through the left side, a fielding error by WC and a sac fly to right. A two-out single up the middle capped the six-run frame.
- Trailing 9-4 in the top of the fifth,
Ty Everitt plated a pair on double to left-center that scored both Ruppel and Dardaris to cut it to 9-6 with one away.
- The Student Princes scored the next five runs, four in the sixth and one in the seventh, to take a 14-6 lead after seven.
- Washington would storm back to tie the game at 14-14 with eight-run top half of the eighth with six of the runs coming with two outs. Down 14-8 with two away, Everitt drove in Ruppel on a base hit to right-center to trim it to five. The next hitter
Matt Lewis singled through the left side to knock in Wozniak and Everitt to slice the lead to just three runs, 14-11. Two hitters later, Kinsey went yard for the second time in the game, a three-run blast to score both
Matt Lewis and
Wyatt Uhde to even it at 14-14.
- In the last of the ninth with one out, the Student Princes got a base hit through the left side and then walked it off on a double to right-center to score the runner from first.
