Bronx, NY– Washington College Sailing headed back to Fordham in the Bronx to compete in an open team race. The team finished fourth of six teams with only one day of racing under their belts.  

Saturday, March 14: 

Unfortunately due to strong winds and shifts, fleet was sent in after numerous capsizes and damage to the fleet. No races were able to be started. Racing was cancelled for the day with forecast not improving until late in the evening. 

Thank you to all coaches and support boats for help keeping all athletes safe. 

Sunday, March 15: 

Day two of the WAC Team Race started and ended with great conditions. Breeze 10-12 stable out of the ESE provided great conditions for team racing. Congrats to Michigan on the win and SUNY and Fordham on a close 2nd and 3rd. 

Thank you to all Fordham Athletes for supporting the event, as well as SUNY extras for helping out on RC and Finish boats.  

How It Happened 

WAC Team Race at Fordham 

The Shoremen and Shorewomen of the sailing team picked up competition on Sunday, March 15th due to weather on Saturday the 14th. The Sailing pairs were as follows: Austin Latimer sailed with Sabi Fintel, Alex Salzberg sailed with Rachel Morgen, George Wood sailed with Ethan Rower, and Matt Ladolny and Abby Wyman were alternates. 

The Sailing team ended in fourth place out of six teams.

The Washington College Sailing team will head back to New York to sail in the Admiral Moore Regatta, March 21st and 22nd.
