Eagles Fly Past Shoremen, 8-3

Hirsh Tallies Two Hits and Plates a Pair of Runs for Washington

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – Host Eastern jumped out to a 4-0 lead and scored the game's final four runs to down visiting Washington College, 8-3, on Wednesday afternoon at The Yard in a non-conference baseball game. The Eagles improve to 13-7 on the season, while the Shoremen are now 12-9.

Eastern (13-7) 8 Washington College (12-9) 3

How It Happened
- The Eagles scored once in the bottom of the first inning, twice in the last of the third and once in the bottom half of the fourth to take a 4-0 lead after four.
- In the top of the fifth, the Shoremen got leadoff walks from Pete Kokinis and Ty Powell and would both advance to third on a wild pitch with nobody out. With one away, Reese Hirsh singled up the middle to plate both Kokinis and Powell to trim the lead to 4-2.
- With one away in the top of the sixth, Kokinis plated Alex Dardaris on a sacrifice fly to left-center to make it a one-run game, 4-3.
- Eastern would score twice in the last of the sixth on a one-out base hit to center and a two-out single through left side to take a 6-3 lead into the seventh.
- The Eagles pushed two more across in the bottom of the seventh to provide the final margin.

For The Shoremen (12-9)
- Hitting: Hirsh (2-for-5, two RBI), Dardaris (2-for-4, run), Chase Ruppel (two walks)
- Pitching: Logan Ruga (loss 0-1, two innings, two hits, one run, one earned, one walk, two strikeouts)
- Washington had eight hits, seven walks and had one reach on via hit by pitch, while leaving eight on base.
- The Shoremen committed two errors in the game, leading to no unearned runs for the Eagles.
