Shoremen Pick Up Road Centennial Win over Bears, 15-9

Gestole Factors in Eight of 15 Scores with Five Goal and Three Assists

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Visiting Washington College took a 10-4 lead into halftime at host Ursinus and came away with a 15-9 victory on Wednesday afternoon at Patterson Field.  The Shoremen improve to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the Centennial, while the Bears drop to 4-4 and 0-2 respectively.

How It Happened
- The Bears took a 2-0 lead with 9:00 to go in the first quarter before the Shoremen scored five of the final six goals of the opening stanza to take a 5-3 lead after one. Jake Arcudi put WC ahead for good at 3-2 with 5:24 to go and leading 4-3, Aiden Ventura finished off a Talan Behler pass with one second left to give the Shoremen a 5-3 lead after one.
- In the second, Washington outscored the hosts 5-1 to take a six-goal lead into halftime, 10-4. Jack Dupuis scored a man-up tally with 53 seconds to go before halftime on a pass from Peyton Gestole.
- Ursinus would score the first two goals of the third to cut the deficit to 10-6 with 11:41 remaining. Washington would score two of the final three of the third to take a 12-7 advantage into the fourth.
- After the home side scored the first goal of the fourth, the trim it to 12-8, Washington put the game away with three unanswered to lead 15-8 with 11:37 left on a Carson Crawford tally. The Bears got the last goal of the game with 8:11 left to provide the final margin.

For The Shoremen (7-2, 2-0 CC)
- Scoring: Gestole (five goals and three assists for eight points), Dupuis (three goals), Ventura (goal and two assists), Behler and Luca Signorello (three assists), Reeve Hargrave and Nate Winters (two goals)
- In Goal: Keegan Dunn (60:00, nine goals allowed, 11 saves)
- Ronan Miller (15-for-24 on face-offs and seven ground balls), Brian Blanche (three caused turnovers)
- Washington had 21 turnovers, caused 12 Ursinus turnovers and went 4-for-4 on the man-up, all in the second quarter.
- The Shoremen, who took 40 shots, were 24-for-30 in clears.
