Shoremen Drop Series Against #9 Johns Hopkins

Chestertown, MD- Washington College Baseball falls in second game of series to #9 Johns Hopkins at home. Senior Reese Hirsh earns 100th career hit with a double down the righ field line in the first inning.

How It Happened 

  • The Shoremen trailed 5-0 heading into the bottom of the first inning.  
  • Chase Ruppel hit a homer to center field with two outs to put the Shoremen on the board, 1-0. Reese Hirsh earned his 100th career hit as the next batter with a double down the right field line. Alex Dardaris earned himself first as he was hit by a pitch. Brady Wozniak hit a home run to right field to send all runners home and the Shoremen were within one of the Blue Jays, 5-4. 
  • Johns Hopkins scored two in the top of the second to take a three run lead, 7-4.  
  • In the bottom of the second with one out, Pete Kokinis was hit by a pitch with one out. Drew Kinsey followed with a double over the center fielder's head. He sent Kokinis home and moved the score, 7-5.  
  • The Shoremen were down 30-5 heading into the bottom of the seventh.  Luke Herz batted in Brady Thompson who was walked as the first batter of the inning. Charlie Knighton was hit by a pitch and was able to advance to third. He eventually scored on a wild pitch, moving the score to 30-7. The Blue Jays recorded the third out and took the game, 30-7.
