The coxswain and eight rowers of the women's rowing team's varsity eight share this week's Shorewoman of the Week honor. The boat won its race against Bryn Mawr this past Saturday on the Chester River.
The varsity eight won its heat on Saturday morning with a time of 7:53.86, beating Bryn Mawr by 8..58 seconds.
The varsity eight consisted of juniior coxswain Kelsey Sanderell (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley), junior Sydney Clemmer (Havertown, Pa./Episcopal School) in the first seat, junior Amelia Watson (New Hope, Pa./Solebury School) in the second seat, freshman Elizabeth Clayton (Middletown, Conn./Middletown) in the third seat, senior Heather Lamont (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge) in the fourth seat, junior Caroline Derringer (Bethesda, Md./Winston Churchill) in the fifth seat, sophomore Meredith Bedell (Deerfield, Mass./Tabor Academy) in the sixth seat, senior Maura Collins (St. Louis, Mo./Parkwest West) in the seventh seat and senior Kyaran Balin-Brooks (Rockville, Md./Walter Johnson) in the eighth seat.
This is the fourth career Shorewoman of the Week honor for Collins, third for Lamont and Sanderell, second for Bedell and Derringer and first for Balin-Brooks, Clayton, Clemmer and Watson.
