Owings Mills, Md. - The Washington College Shorewomen fell to the #17 Stevenson University Mustangs, 5-0, on Tuesday evening at Owings Mills East in the season opener for both teams.

How it Happened
- The Shorewomen came out strong defensively with captain and goalkeeper,
Charlotte Schurman making a pair of early saves with 10:46 and 7:39 left in the first quarter to keep the Mustangs from getting onto the scoreboard. Stevenson would score twice in the final 4:36 of the opening quarter to lead 2-0 after one.
- Washington College continued to create offensive opportunities throughout the first half, earning multiple penalty corners and applying pressure on Stevenson defense. The Shorewomen recorded shots from
Erin Houlihan and
Natalie Watkinson in the second quarter. The Mustangs would add two in the second quarter, one early and one late, to lead 4-0 at halftime.
- Schurman continued to battle in goal making a pair of saves at 2:16 and 8:23 into the third quarter as the Shorewomen worked to limit Stevenson's offensive chances.
- Washington College earned a penalty corner with 18 seconds to go in the third quarter and
Tyler Rice recorded a shot at 37 seconds into the fourth quarter that was blocked.
- Schurman put together another strong stretch in the fourth quarter, making five saves, including a two in the final 79 seconds, to keep fighting for the Shorewomen
- Washington College continued to compete through the final quarter, battling defensively and working to create opportunities as the Shorewomen fought until the final whistle, 5-0, Stevenson as the home side tacked on a fourth quarter goal for the final margin.
