Chestertown, Md. - The Washington College Shorewomen defeated the Susquehanna University River Hawks, 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at home in a non-conference field hockey game on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. as freshman midfielder
Reece Forrey (Ocean View, Del./Indian River) scored with 2:06 to go for the lone score of the game and first career goal. The Shorewomen are now 2-2 on the season, while the River Hawks slip to 1-4.

How it Happened
- The Shorewomen opened the game by creating offensive pressure as
Erin Houlihan had a shot 3:53 into the game that was a defensive save by the River Hawks defense and
Natalie Watkinson had a shot turned away by a Susquehanna defender at the 8:50 mark of the first quarter.
Charlotte Schurman stopped one Susquehanna shot in the first quarter at 7:14. The teams remained scoreless after the opening quarter.
- Washington College continued to generate opportunities in the second quarter, earning back-to-back penalty corners at 2:19 and 2:39 into the frame and Watkinson had a shot five seconds after the second corner, but her attempt went wide. Schurman made one save with 2:05 left in the stanza as the two teams went to halftime tied 0-0 at the half.
- WC came out of halftime offensively strong as
Tara Radebaugh had a shot saved by a River Hawk defender and on the ensuing rebound the Shorewomen were awarded a penalty stroke.
Colleen Anson's stroke went wide to the left as the game remained scoreless with 13:36 to go in the third.
- Susquehanna had two shots in an eight-second sequence saved by Schurman with the second one coming with 9:14 to go in the third for the final shot of the quarter by either team as the game stayed scoreless heading into the final quarter.
- In the final quarter, Schurman made the first of two saves 4:26 into the fourth to keep the contest tied.
- The Shorewomen earned back-to-back penalty corners and cashed in with 2:06 left in the contest as
Tyler Rice's pass found the stick of Forrey and Forrey put it into the right side of the cage for the winning tally.
- Schurman made one final save with 51 seconds remaining to deny the River Hawks their final chance and the Shorewomen were able to run out the clock to secure another home win.
