Westminster, Md. - The Washington College Shoremen fell to the McDaniel College Green Terror, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon in a Centennial Conference men's soccer game that was the conference opener for both teams at the Soccer Complex. The Shoremen scored late in the second half in the final minute as junior forward
Jordan Waiganjo (Nairobi, Kenya/High Mowing School [N.H.]) found the back of the net but the Green Terror held on for a victory. The Green Terror is now 5-0-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the Centennial, while the Shoremen are 1-2-4 and 0-1-0 respectively.

How it Happened
- Washington College generated several chances in the opening half, with
Simone Perin and
Ethan Watson each recording shots. Goalkeeper
Hannes Budde made a save on in the eighth minute before the Green Terror took a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute and would take that lead into halftime.
- The Shoremen continued to look for the equalizer early in the second half as
Samuel Knauf and Waiganjo each had shots saved by the McDaniel goalkeeper. Washington College continued to apply pressure, with Knauf,
Tucker Sprano, Watson and Waiganjo each recording additional chances.
- Washington College came close to tying the game in the 78th minute as
Tshazi Kamau hit the woodwork following a corner kick.
Scott O'Donnell then had a shot turned away as the Shoremen continued to pressure the McDaniel defense.
- McDaniel doubled its lead in the 86th minute to 2-0. Washington College responded just over three minutes later as Waiganjo scored off assists from
Oliver Horan and Sprano to cut the deficit to 2-1 with 47 seconds to go from the six. For Horan, it was his first career assist and point. The Shoremen pushed for the equalizer after the goal but did not get another shot off following the score.
