Chestertown, Md. - The Washington College Shoremen fell to visiting Franklin & Marshall, 2-1, in a Centennial Conference men's soccer game on Wednesday night on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium despite a late second-half goal from
Niland Gallo. Gallo's goal, the first of his career, was assisted by
Tshazi Kamau, brought the Shoremen within one with 14:59 left in the second half, but the Diplomats held on for the victory. The Diplomats are now 4-4-1 on the season and 1-2-0 in the conference, while the Shoremen are 2-3-5 and 0-2-1 respectively.

How it Happened
- Washington College created early pressure as
Tucker Sprano had a shot blocked in the third minute, followed by
Jordan Waiganjo having a shot blocked in the 14th minute.
- The Shoremen continued to generate opportunities, earning a corner kick in the 23rd minute before
Samuel Knauf had a shot blocked. Gallo later put a shot just high in the 29th minute.
- F&M opened the scoring in the 35th minute against the Shoremen on a header off of a cross into the lower left. The visiting Diplomats took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
- Washington College came out aggressively in the second half, with
Samuel Knauf having a shot blocked and
Walker Patino and
Simone Perin sending shots high early.
- The visitors then extended their lead to 2-0 in the 53rd minute on a shot from the top of the box into the lower right corner.
- The Shoremen continued to pressure as Kamau had a shot saved in the 67th minute, followed by Gallo putting a shot high. In the 76th minute Gallo got the rebound of a blocked Kamau shot and put it into the lower left corner to cut the deficit to 2-1.
- Washington College kept pushing for the equalizer, with Kamau having another shot blocked and Gallo forcing a save in the 80th minute. The Shoremen earned a corner and multiple free kicks late with Sprano getting the last shot with 3:57 left but it sailed high as F&M held on for the 2-1 victory.
