Ali Trani

Washington College head women's basketball coach Alisha Mosley announced the appointment of Ali Trani as assistant coach on July 1, 2021.

"I am really excited to welcome Ali to our basketball family," Mosley stated. "Her energy and passion are contagious. Ali's attention to detail and commitment to development really sets her apart. Her experiences will have an immediate impact on our program, and I can't wait for her to get started."

Trani, a former point guard, was a member of two Big South Championship and two NCAA Tournament teams at UNC Asheville (2015-2016, 2016-2017). As a senior in 2018-19, Trani started all 32 games and averaged 27.9 minutes per game. A team-captain, she captured the UNC Asheville Scholar-Athlete Award in 2018. She made 94 career appearances and started 46 games for the Bulldogs. In the classroom, Trani made the Chancellor's List all four years and was a member of the Dean's List in 2015. She received the Big South Commissioner's Award in 2018 and was a member of the Presidential Honor Roll in 2016, 2017 and 2019. The Moseley, Virginia native earned a Bachelor of Science degree in health and wellness promotion in 2019. 

Following her time at UNC Asheville, Trani was hired as a graduate assistant coach at Mercer University in August of 2019, where she completed a Master's of Education degree in higher learning leadership. Trani helped lead Mercer to the 2021 Southern Conference Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. She participated in all aspects of the program, including organizing, recruiting and player development.

Trani attended Cosby High School where she was the point guard for a Top-10 nationally ranked team. She led her team to the 6A Virginia State Championships in 2014 and 2015 and was a three-time AAAAAA Conference 3 All-Academic Team selection. She was also selected to participate in the ASSIST All-American All-Star Game during her senior season.
