Howard F. “Buck” Griffin was one of the top right-handed pitchers in Washington College baseball history.

He was the hurling mainstay of J. Thomas Kibler’s teams of the 1928-30 period. He possessed a “hopping” fastball, a wicked breaking curve ball and great control.

He signed a Boston Red Sox contract professionally, and pitched in the old Eastern Shore League and the Blue Ridge League with Hagerstown.

He enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a teacher and baseball coach at Catonsville High School and Catonsville Community College.
