Box Score Five WC Players Reach Double Figures in
Scoring
BRYN MAWR, PA – Five Shorewomen reached
double figures in scoring as visiting Washington College rolled to
a 75-46 Centennial Conference women's basketball win over host Bryn
Mawr tonight in Bryn Mawr, PA. The Shorewomen improved to 2-4
overall and 2-1 in conference play, while the Owls fell to 1-4 and
0-3.
Bryn Mawr took an early 6-1 lead, but it was all
Shorewomen after that as they raced out to a 50-24 halftime lead.
Washington shot 50% from the field and held a commanding 23-10
rebounding advantage in the first period. The Shorewomen's lead
grew to as many as 37 points in the second half.
Sophomore guard Meghan Tait (Oxford,
PA/Oxford Area) paced the Shorewomen with 15 points, a
career-high eight rebounds, and seven assists. Sophomore
guard/forward Sally O'Donnell (Cape May Court House,
NJ/Wildwood Catholic) added 14 points and nine rebounds,
making four of her nine three-point field-goal attempts. Freshman
center Erin Kile (Benton, PA/Benton) tallied a
career high-tying 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two
blocks, while senior guard Jane O'Donnell (Cape May Court
House, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) netted 11 points and freshman
guard Maggie King (Kensington, MD/Bethesda-Chevy
Chase) scored 10. Senior forward Julie Sherwood
(Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) shared team-high
rebounding honors with Sally O'Donnell, pulling down nine.
The Shorewomen shot 40% from the field for the
game, including a 12-for-30 performance from beyond the three-point
arc. Washington enjoyed a 47-36 advantage on the boards for the
game.
Lindsey Darvin was the only Owl to
reach double figures in scoring, pouring in a game-high 18 points
to go along with nine boards. Caroline Heffernan
added seven points, a game-best 10 rebounds, and two blocks, while
Shanika Bridges-King dished out seven assists for
Bryn Mawr.
The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a
4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at 16th-ranked Muhlenberg.
