Ripple Makes Five Saves in Loss

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Wesley College scored once in each half of a 2-0 women's soccer victory over host Washington College tonight on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Wolverines evened their record at 1-1 with the win, while the Shorewomen, who were playing their season opener, fell to 0-1 with the loss.

Neither team got on the scoreboard until the 40:14 mark when Kaitlin Barry fired in a goal from 15 yards out. The Wolverines took a 2-0 lead at 57:03 when Samantha Hannibal sent a ball into the upper right-hand corner of the goal.

Washington's final scoring chance came at 84:36 when sophomore forward Jennifer Kiarsis (Rye, NY/Canterbury School, CT) had her shot saved by Wesley goalkeeper Sydney Kahan.

Kahan and Washington sophomore goalkeeper Tori Ripple (Baltimore, MD/John Carroll) each made five saves in the game. Each team recorded 10 shots in the contest and Wesley held a slim 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. home game against Goucher.
