Box Score Kile Posts Third Consecutive Double-Double
in Loss
CHESTERTOWN, MD – Ninth-ranked Muhlenberg
College used a 27-7 first-half run to take control of the game en
route to a 75-51 Centennial Conference women's basketball victory
over host Washington College this afternoon at Cain Athletic
Center. The Mules improved to 10-2 overall and 8-1 in conference
play with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 6-9 and 4-6 with
the loss.
The Shorewomen held a 17-12 lead with 9:50 left in
the first half before the Mules went on their big run.
Alexandra Chili scored 13 of her 17 first-half
points during the run, which saw Muhlenberg build a 39-23 lead on a
Chili free throw with 1:21 left before the break. Muhlenberg held a
39-24 advantage at halftime.
Muhlenberg led by at least 12 points throughout the
second half.
Chili finished the game with a game-high 25 points,
knocking down eight of her 15 shots from the field, including a
6-for-12 performance from three-point range, and making three of
her four free throws. Kelly McKeon poured in 18
points and grabbed 12 boards for Muhlenberg, while Alita
Zabrecky contributed eight points and 12 rebounds off the
bench.
Freshman center Erin Kile (Benton,
PA/Benton) notched her third consecutive double-double for
the Shorewomen, tallying 12 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore guard
Meghan Tait (Oxford, PA/Oxford Area) added 10
points, 11 rebounds, and five assists, while sophomore
guard/forward Sally O'Donnell (Cape May Court House,
NJ/Wildwood Catholic) netted 12 points and blocked three
shots.
Washington was held to 29.9% shooting from the
field and made just seven of its 19 free throws in the loss. The
Mules also enjoyed a big advantage on the glass, winning the
rebound battle, 57-46.
The Shorewomen are back in action Wednesday when
they host Johns Hopkins in a 6:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game.
