Box Score Rubacky Leads Offense for Shorewomen
BRYN MAWR, PA -- Sophomore attack Melissa Rubacky (Dover, DE/Dover) scored four goals and assisted on another as the Washington College field hockey team rolled to an 11-0 shutout over host Bryn Mawr College this afternoon.
The Shorewomen (7-9, 5-4 Centennial) held a 44-0 advantage in shots and a 16-0 advantage in penalty corners in the game. Washington scored six of its 11 goals in the first half.
Freshman attack Angela Parreco (Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) scored her first two collegiate goals to join Rubacky as the only Shorewomen with multiple goals in the game. Senior attack Danielle Rosato (Narvon, PA/Pequea Valley), sophomore midfielder Kristen Wille (Stevensville, MD/Kent Island), sophomore defender Erin Lewns (Fallston, MD/North Harford), sophomore midfielder Hilary Manion (Trappe, PA/Archbishop Carroll), and sophomore defender Jess Magdeburger (Baltimore, MD/Friends School) each had one goal. Wille, junior attack Emily Trees (Kensington, MD/Connelly School of the Holy Child), junior midfielder Gussie Reilly (Buck Hill Falls, PA/Mercersburg Academy), junior defender Brittany Palasik (Severna Park, MD/Archbishop Spalding), junior defender Emily Broomell (East Petersburg, PA/Lancaster Christian), and freshman attack Diane Boccella (Winslow, NJ/Winslow Township) each had one assist. Boccella's assist was the first of her collegiate career.
Senior goalkeeper Shannon Davis (Sykesville, MD/Liberty) played the first 26:44 in goal for the Shorewomen before being relieved by freshman Steph Harryman (Churchton, MD/Southern), who made her collegiate debut. Faith Westdorp played the first 43:15 in goal for Bryn Mawr (0-13, 0-10), making 16 saves and allowing eight goals. Elizabeth Toft played the rest of the game, making nine saves and allowing three goals.
The Shorewomen close out their regular season Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Dickinson. A win, or a loss by McDaniel the same day, would clinch the fifth and final Centennial Conference Tournament berth for Washington.
