CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Gettysburg College defeated host Washington College, 133-62, in Centennial Conference men's swimming this afternoon at Casey Swim Center. The Bullets improved to 2-0 and 1-0 in Centennial Conference meets with the win. The Shoremen were swimming in their season opener.
Junior Austin Auger (McLean, VA/Langley) posted the second-fastest time and received the first-place points for the Shoremen in the 200 breaststroke, finishing in 2:21.59. (Gettysburg swam the final two events of the meet as exhibition entrants only.) Auger was also second in the 200 individual medley in 2:08.95. Senior Matt Violette (Westbrook, ME/Westbrook) added a second-place finish in the 200 butterfly in 2:09.46.
The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with a 5:30 p.m. non-conference meet at Salisbury.
