Auger and Violette Each Win One Event Each
CHESTERTOWN, MD – Visiting Widener University had the top time in nine of 11 events en route to a 111-76 victory over host Washington College on Saturday afternoon at the Casey Swim Center in non-conference men's swimming action. The Pride goes to 4-2 on the season, while the Shoremen drop to 0-5.
Senior Matt Violette (Westbrook, ME/Westbrook) won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:09.73 and junior Austin Auger (McLean, VA/Langley) captured the 200 breaststroke in 2:19.59. WC also got the first-place points in the 500 freestyle courtesy of sophomore A.J. Feurer (Kingsville, MD/Archbishop Curley) with a time of 5:19.90 and the 400 freestyle relay team of Feurer, junior Ross Mills (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch), sophomore Spencer VanCise (Temple City, CA/Temple City) and senior Tim Beadell (Timonium, MD/Loyola Blakefield) who recorded a time of 3:36.01. Widener had the top times in both events, but swam the events as an exhibition.
Violette was second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:53.19 and Auger placed second in the 200 individual medley as he recorded a time of 2:08.93.
Washington returns to the pool on Saturday, January 15 against Elizabethtown in a non-conference meet at 1:00 p.m.
