Box Score Breslin Paces Washington with 19

CHESTERTOWN, MD – Fifteenth-ranked Franklin
& Marshall pulled away from host Washington College in the
second half of a 74-58 Centennial Conference men's basketball
victory for the Diplomats this afternoon at Cain Athletic Center.
The Diplomats improved to 20-3 overall and 14-2 in conference play
with the win, while the Shoremen fell to 11-9 and 9-7 with the
loss.
F&M ended the first half on a 13-6 run to take
a 34-27 lead into the intermission. The Diplomats held a 48-36 lead
with under 13 minutes remaining in the second half before the
Shoremen scored six quick points to cut it to 48-42 on a jumper by
sophomore guard/forward Kevin Breslin (Hagerstown, MD/St.
Maria Goretti) with 11:10 to go in the second half. After
a timeout, F&M countered with a 16-5 run to surge ahead, 64-47,
on a lay-up by Anthony Brooks with 7:06 to go. The
Diplomats led by at least 12 points the rest of the way.
Brooks paced the Diplomats with 17 points, five
assists, and eight rebounds in the win, while Georgio
Milligan tallied 14 points, eight assists, and eight
rebounds. James McNally chipped in 13 points and
eight boards, while Steve Tolliver scored 11
points off the bench.
Sophomore guard/forward Kevin Breslin
(Hagerstown, MD/St. Maria Goretti) scored a game-high 19
points and swiped five steals for the Shoremen, while senior
forward Alan Kines (Towson, MD/Towson) scored 15
points. Sophomore forward Chris Olsen (Ellicott City,
MD/Mount St. Joseph) added nine points for Washington.
F&M held a 44-29 advantage on the boards in the
game and shot 47% from the field to Washington's 35%.
The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with an
8:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Ursinus.
