CHESTERTOWN, MD – Lindsay
Teuber scored 20 points and brought down 13 rebounds to
lead visiting Ursinus College past host Washington College, 74-56,
in Centennial Conference women's basketball action tonight inside
Cain Athletic Center. The Bears improved to 12-12 overall and 9-10
in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to
9-15 and 7-12 with the loss.
Ursinus ended the first half on an 11-2 run to open
up a 38-25 lead at the intermission. The Bears shot 51.6% in the
opening half and made their last six shots from the field in the
period.
The Bears held a 41-27 lead with 18 minutes to play
in the second half before the Shorewomen ran off eight straight
points - six of them coming on a pair of three-pointers by
sophomore guard/forward Sally O'Donnell
(Cape May Court House, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) - to cut the
margin to 41-35 with 16:54 to play. That was as close as the
Shorewomen would get, however, as Ursinus cored the next four
points to take a 45-35 lead on a Teuber jumper in the paint with
1:59 to go.
Teuber was 7-for-13 from the field and 6-for-7 from
the charity stripe in the win for Ursinus. She also swiped a
game-best four steals and blocked two shots. Kristy
George added 14 points, while Alex
Shivers contributed nine points, six boards, and five
assists off the bench for the Bears.
Freshman center Erin Kile (Benton,
PA/Benton) scored 16 points and grabbed nine boards for
the Shorewomen in the loss, while sophomore guard Meghan
Tait (Oxford, PA/Oxford Area) scored 13 points, dished out
a game-best eight assists, and grabbed six rebounds. Freshman guard
Maggie King (Kensington, MD/Bethesda-Chevy Chase)
finished with 10 points, while Sally O'Donnell tallied nine points,
nine boards, and three blocked shots.
Ursinus shot 42.6% from the field in the game to
Washington's 31.7%. The Bears also enjoyed a 44-35 advantage on the
boards.
The Shorewomen finish their season this Saturday
with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Johns Hopkins.
