Pollock Wins Pair of Individual
Events
WESTMINSTER, MD - The Washington College men's swim
team recorded its first Centennial Conference win of the season
tonight with a 48-46 win over host McDaniel College. Senior
Dylan Pollock (Savannah, GA/Benedictine Military)
won two individual events for the Shoremen, who improved to 4-5
overall and 1-4 in conference meets.
Pollock won the 200 freestyle in 1:53.87 and the
100 butterfly in 55.42. Junior Matt Violette (Westbrook,
ME/Westbrook) added a win in the 500 freestyle in a
Washington College season-best time of 5:02.11 and a second-place
finish in the 200 individual medley in a WC season-best time of
2:07.04. Freshman A.J. Feurer (Kingsville, MD/Archbishop
Curley) won the 1000 freestyle in 10:37.01, sophomore
Nick Longworth (Media, PA/Strath Haven) captured
the 100 backstroke in 58.61, and sophomore Austin Auger
(McLean, VA/Langley) placed first in the 200 breaststroke
in 2:21.06.
Longworth, sophomore Johnny Helenek
(Gaithersburg, MD/Gaithersburg), Pollock, and Soper won
the 200 medley relay in 1:46.65. Soper was also second in the 100
freestyle in a WC season-best 49.90 and the 50 freestyle in 22.75.
The Shoremen return to action tomorrow with their
final dual meet of the season, a 6:30 p.m. Centennial Conference
home meet against Swarthmore.
