Violette, Auger Win Two Events Each in
Loss
CHESTERTOWN, MD - Visiting Swarthmore College
defeated host Washington College, 121-77, in the final dual meet of
the season for both Centennial Conference men's swim teams tonight
inside Casey Swim Center. The Garnet finish the dual meet season
6-3 overall and 5-1 in conference meets, while the Shoremen finish
4-6 and 1-5.
Junior Matt Violette (Westbrook,
ME/Westbrook) and sophomore Austin Auger (McLean,
VA/Langley) each won two individual events for the
Shoremen in the loss. Violette won the 200 freestyle in a
Washington College season-best time of 1:51.18 and the 200
backstroke in a WC season-best 2:01.40. Auger took the 200
individual medley in a WC season-best 2:06.97 and the 200
breaststroke in 2:21.01.
Senior Chris Soper (Towson, MD/Loyola
Blakefield) was first in the 100 freestyle for Washington
in a WC season-best 49.64 and finished second in the 50 freestyle
in 22.72, which matched his WC season-best time.
Violette, Auger, senior Dylan Pollock
(Savannah, GA/Benedictine Military), and Soper won the 200
medley relay in 1:42.45.
The Shoremen return to action February 19th-21st at
the Centennial Conference Championships, hosted by Franklin &
Marshall.
