GETTYSBURG, PA -- Freshman Greg Lee (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) won the 200 butterfly and became the Shoremen's fifth-fastest swimmer ever in that event, but the Washington College men's swim team dropped its season opener to host Gettysburg, 132-67, this afternoon in a Centennial Conference meet.
Lee's winning time in the 200 butterfly was 2:03.63. Fellow freshman Austin Yocum (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) finished third in the 200 freestyle in 1:51.80 and in the 500 freestyle in 5:15.62.
Gettysburg entered the final two events as exhibition entrants only. The Shoremen (0-1, 0-1 Centennial) return to action Wednesday with a 5:30 p.m. non-conference home meet against Salisbury.
