Freshman Becomes Fifth-Fastest WC Swimmer Ever in 100 Butterfly
CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Freshman Greg Lee (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) broke the pool record in the 100 butterfly to highlight a 126-79 win for host Washington College over Eastern Shore rival Salisbury University in non-conference men's swimming action tonight inside Casey Swim Center. The victory was the Shoremen's (1-1) 20th in their past 21 meetings with the Sea Gulls (1-2).
Lee's pool-record time of 53.40 in the 100 butterfly made him the Shoremen's fifth-fastest swimmer ever in the event. Senior Austin Auger (McLean, VA/Langley) and freshman Austin Yocum (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) each won two individual events for the Shoremen. Auger captured the 200 individual medley in 2:06.96 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.66, while Yocum won the 200 freestyle in 1:50.40 and the 500 freestyle in 5:10.17.
Freshman James Ray (Timonium, MD/Towson) won the 100 freestyle in 49.59 and placed second in the 50 freestyle in 22.59. Senior Nick Longworth (Media, PA/Strath Haven) took first place in the 100 backstroke in 56.84.
