CHESTERTOWN, MD – Washington College, ranked 12th in the Atlantic South Region, scored an 8-1 victory over McDaniel on Saturday afternoon in men's tennis at the Schottland Tennis Center in the Centennial Conference opener for both squads.  The Shoremen improve to 3-2 on the year, while the Green Terror fall to 3-3.

In doubles, the Shoremen won two of three to grab a 2-1 lead with the scores all being 8-2.  Juniors, Kevin Papen (Dover, DE/Caesar Rodney) and Aaron Ellison (Largo, FL/St. Petersburg) downed Justin Ward and Steve French at No. 2 and the No. 3 tandem of senior Adam Cranford (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) and freshman Marc Cywinski (Brisbane, Australia/Pendleton (FL) topped Brian Kron and Matthew Langsdale.  McDaniel's No. 1 team of Chad Palman and Ben Faber bested Washington's No. 1 team of senior Kristian Wilson (Germantown, PA/Home School) and junior Kyle Lisco (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North).

In singles, Cranford beat Faber at No. 1 by scores of 6-0 and 6-1.  Junior John Menzione (Chadds Ford, PA/Kennett) dropped Langsdale at No. 6 singles, 6-0 and 6-0.  Lisco clinched the victory for Washington at No. 4 singles as he bested Kron, 6-0 and 6-1.  Papen secured a 6-0 and 6-3 victory over Ward at No. 2 singles and freshman Joel Novick (Cape May Court House, NJ/Middle Township) got the better of Palman at No. 5 singles, 6-0 and 6-1.  The final result of the day was Ellison winning 6-2 and 6-2 at No. 3 singles over French.

With the victory, the Shoremen have now topped the Green Terror 20 consecutive times dating back to 1985.  In the 20 victories, Washington has lost just two points.
