SWARTHMORE, PA -- Host Swarthmore College, the eighth-ranked team in the Atlantic South region, defeated visiting Washington College, the region's 13th-ranked team, 7-2, in a Centennial Conference men's tennis match this afternoon. The Garnet improved to 11-6 overall and 7-1 in conference play with the win. The Shoremen fell to 9-6 and 5-3 with the loss.  The loss for the Shoremen, coupled with other results from around the conference today, means the Shoremen will be the fifth seed in the upcoming Centennial Conference Tournament and will play on the road in the first round match one week from today.

Swarthmore won two of the three doubles matches as Max Kaye and Max Bressman were 8-5 winners over WC juniors Kevin Papen (Dover, DE/Caesar Rodney) and Aaron Ellison (Largo, FL/St. Petersburg) at No. 1 and Zak Kelm and Christian Carcione bested junior Kyle Lisco (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) and freshman Joel Novick (Cape May Court House, NJ/Middle Township), 8-2, at No. 3.
