Shorewomen Drop 2-1 Decision to Marietta, Pin 10-0 Setback on Mount St. Joseph

KISSIMMEE, FL -- The Washington Colllege softball team concluded play the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, FL, by splitting a pair of contests this afternoon. The Shorewomen (7-6) fell to Marietta, 2-1, in their first game of the day before bouncing back to defeat Mount St. Joseph, 10-0, in five innings.

In the Shorewomen's game with Marietta, neither team scored until the top of the sixth inning when Washington junior pitcher Brittany Walter (Forest Hill, MD/C. Milton Wright) drove in sophomore catcher Kylie Nottingham (Ocean City, MD/Stephen Decatur), who had double to lead off the inning, with a two-out infield single. The Pioneers threatened in the bottom have of the inning, loading the bases with two outs, but Walter got out of the jam by getting Emily Estrich to ground into a fielder's choice. Marietta won the game in the bottom of the seventh as Hannah Tarski evened the score by scoring on a wild pitch and Michelle Sayre drove in the wining run with an RBI single through the left side.

Alexis O'Hair got the win in relief for the Pioneers, allowing no runs on one hit in an inning and a third. Walter pitched well in the loss, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks in six innings of work.

Katie Swejk and Sayre each had two hits in the win for Marietta, while Kyle Nottingham had two hits in the loss for the Shorewomen.

The Shorewomen added three more runs in the second on an RBI single by sophomore first baseman Lauren Dockrill (San Diego, CA/Cathedral Catholic), a sacrifice fly by Patinella, and a an RBI single by Glascock. Washington completed the scoring with three runs in the third on a two-run triple by freshman left fielder Kelsey Graham (Dunkirk, MD/Northern) and an RBI double by Dockrill.

Graham went 3-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBI in the win for Washington. Dockrill, Glascock, and freshman right fielder Christine Anderson (Palmer Lake, CO/Lewis-Palmer) each went 2-for-3. Dockrill had two RBI and two runs scored, Glascock tallied two RBI and scored a run, and Anderson scored two runs.
