Shoremen Now 19-0 All-Time Against Muhlenberg
ALLENTOWN, PA -- The Washington College men's tennis team improved to 7-4 overall and 5-1 in Centennial Conference play with a 9-0 win over host Muhlenberg College this afternoon in Allentown, PA. The Mules fell to 2-6 and 0-4 with the loss. The win was the fourth in a row for the Shoremen who are now 19-0 all-time against the Mules.
Seniors Kevin Papen (Dover, DE/Caesar Rodney) and Aaron Ellison (Largo, FL/St. Petersburg) won the most competitive doubles match at No. 1, beating Jordan Rutt and Jason Teitelbaum, 8-6. Sophomore Marc Cywinski (Brisbane, Australia/Pendleton [FL]) and freshman Vishnu Rajes (Yercaud, India/St. John's) added an 8-1 win over Daniel Lakham and Eric Chavis at No. 2, while freshman Dan Boaté (West Chester, PA/Reed Henderson) and graduate student Andrew Laux (Mt. Sinai, NY/Mt. Sinai) blanked Ben Berkowitz and Andrew Brod, 8-0, at No. 3.
In singles, Papen defeated Rutt, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1, Ellison beat Lakhman, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 2, and Rajes topped Teitelbaum, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 3. Boaté bested Berkowitz, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 4, Cywinski downed Chavis, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 5, and senior Kyle Lisco (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) rolled past Brod, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 6.
The Shoremen return to action Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home match against Gettysburg.
