Box Score Cabot Makes Nine Saves in Loss
SALISBURY, MD -- Twelfth-ranked host Salisbury University withstood a tough defensive stand from visiting Washington College to score the game's only goal late in the second half of a 1-0 non-conference win this afternoon in Salisbury, MD.
Salisbury (3-0) held a 14-0 advantage in shots in the opening half, but could not find the back of the net as Washington senior goalkeeper Tyler Cabot (Hightstown, NJ/Peddie School) made six saves over the first 45 minutes.
The Sea Gulls finally broke through on their 32nd shot of the game when Phil Bucheimer got past a defender and Cabot and found the back of the net at 79:57. Washington sophomore midfielder Matt Wilfong (Hampstead, MD/North Carroll) recorded the Shoremen's last shot, which went high, at 87:51.
Cabot finished with nine saves in the loss for Washington. Salisbury finished with a 32-5 advantage in shots in the game. John Vnenchak made one save in the shutout for the Sea Gulls.
The Shoremen (1-1) return to action Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. game at Immaculata.
