Wild Scores For Hosts

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Visiting Haverford got a pair of goals in the first half by Brady Seitz and held off a Washington College rally as the Fords downed the host Shoremen, 2-1, at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium on Wednesday evening in a Centennial Conference men's soccer match.  The Fords improve to 7-2-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the conference, while the Shoremen fall to 5-4-1 and 0-2-1 respectively.

The Fords got onto the board just 6:52 into the match when Seitz scored off of a rebound of the header by Ford Bohrmann.  The Seitz-Bohrmann connection struck again when Seitz received a through pass by Bohrmann and his shot from 20 yards out found the lower right corner to put Haverford ahead 2-0 at the 12:28 mark.

The Shoremen thought they got onto the board with 18:15 left in the second when senior midfielder Sam Wild (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) thought he had scored off of a restart, but the referee deemed the shot hit the crossbar and not across the goal line.  Undaunted, Wild got the hosts on the board with 16:29 left in the match when he scored after he gathered a loose ball with freshman midfielder Drew Thompson (Dumfries, Va./Woodbridge) recording the assist.  Haverford's defense was able to thwart any chance for an equalizer by Washington the rest of the way and held on for the victory.

Haverford held a 22-5 shot advantage and took the contest's first 19 shots as Washington did not record a shot until the 64:56 mark by junior midfielder Zach Stocksdale (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll).  The Fords held a 9-7 advantage in corner kicks.  In goal, Nick Kahn did not have to make a save in recording the win for Haverford, while sophomore goalkeeper David Myers (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) made four saves for Washington.  The Shoremen also got a pair of team saves in the match.

The Shoremen will travel to Centennial Conference rival Muhlenberg on Saturday for a 4:00 p.m. kickoff.
