Lee Breaks Pool Record in 100 Butterfly
CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Sophomore Greg Lee (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) broke the Casey Swim Center record in the 100 butterfly as host Washington College defeated visiting McDaniel College, 119-79, in Centennial Conference men's swimming this afternoon inside Casey Swim Center. The meet was the final dual meet of the season for both teams.
Lee's winning time of 51.77 in the 100 butterfly broke his own record of 53.15. It was also a Washington College season best. Freshman Lucas Morgan (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands Regional) won the 100 breaststroke for the Shoremen in 1:02.64, becoming the team's ninth-fastest all-time swimmer in that event. Freshman Charles Logan (Durham, NC/Riverside) won the 100 backstroke in 57.31, while sophomore Austin Yocum (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) captured the 200 freestyle in 1:49.51.
The Shoremen also won both relays as Logan, freshman Eric Burcin (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty), Lee, and freshman Sean Stevens (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) took the 200 medley relay in 1:39.30 and Lee, Burcin, Yocum, and Stevens won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:29.14.
Stevens placed second in the 50 freestyle in a WC season-best 22.36. Morgan finished second in the 1000 freestyle in 10:10.02, Logan placed second in the 200 individual medley in 2:09.80, Burcin was second in the 100 freestyle in 50.57, and Yocum placed second in the 500 freestyle in 5:10.45.
Brad Brooks broke a pair of pool record in the loss for McDaniel, winning the 1000 freestyle in 9:34.46 and the 500 freestyle in 4:44.32.
The Shoremen (5-5 overall, 1-5 Centennial) return to action at the Centennial Conference Championships, to be hosted February 22nd-24th by Franklin & Marshall.
