CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Dickinson College defeated host Washington College, 7-2, in a Centennial Conference men's tennis match this afternoon at Schottland Tennis Center. The Red Devils improved to 4-9 overall and 3-3 in conference play with the win, while the Shoremen fell to 4-7 and 2-4 with the loss.
The Red Devils took a 2-1 lead in the match by winning twice in doubles. Will Golinkin and Christian Muller-Wolf were 8-2 winners over junior Marc Cywinski (Brisbane, Australia/Pendleton [FL]) and sophomore Vishnu Rajes (Yercaud, India/St. John's) at No. 1 while Jon Brittin and Hunter Dewing-Hommes defeated junior Joel Novick (Cape May Court House, NJ/Middle Township) and senior Andrew Pearson (Flourtown, PA/Springfield Township), 9-7, at No. 3. Sophomores Dan Boaté (West Chester, PA/Reed Henderson) and Ryan Holtschneider (Kingsville, MD/Perry Hall) picked up a point for Washington with an 8-2 victory over Joey Frank and Erik Dinardo at No. 2.
In singles play, Golinkin beat Rajes, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 1, Mueller-Wolf bested Holtschneider, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 3, Frank downed Novick, 4-6, 6-3, 10-6, at No. 4, Dinardo topped Pearson, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 5, and Josh Kaseff blanked junior Hunter Scott (Fredericksburg, VA/Stafford), 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6. The Shoremen got their second point at No. 2 where Cywinski was a 6-4, 6-3, victor over Ari Blask at No. 2.
The Shoremen return to action tomorrow with a 10:30 a.m. non-conference match at 25th-ranked Mary Washington.
