MANHEIM, Pa. -- Fourth-seeded Franklin & Marshall posted a 5-0 win over fifth-seeded Washington College in the first round match of the Centennial Conference Men's Tennis Tournament this afternoon. The match was played indoors at Spooky Nook Sports in Manheim, Pa.
The Diplomats (11-6) swept doubles to take a 3-0 lead in the match. Nolan Bacchieri and William MacArthur beat junior Vishnu Rajes (Yercaud, India/St. John's) and senior Marc Cywinski (Brisbane, Australia/Pendleton [Fla.]), 8-1, at No. 1, Doug Kaplan and Tommy Weibye pulled out an 8-6 win over junior Ryan Holtschneider (Kingsville, Md./Perry Hall) and freshman Jeremy Novick (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Township) at No. 2, and Parint Lertdumrikam and Joshua Kane downed senior Joel Novick (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Township) and freshman Zachary Novick (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Township), at No. 3.
F&M wrapped up the win with a 6-0, 6-1, win by Kaplan over Joel Novick at No. 2 singles and a 6-0, 6-1, victory by Kane over Jeremy Novick at No. 4.
The Shoremen finish their season at 8-9.
