Box Score Margin of Victory is Shorewomen's Largest Ever Over Bullets
GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- Sophomore midfielder Elizabeth Davis (Earleville, Md./Bohemia Manor) scored four goals as the Washington College field hockey team improved to 7-1 overall and 1-1 in Centennial Conference play with a 5-1 win at Gettysburg College this afternoon. The Shorewomen's four-goal margin of victory was their largest ever in 25 all-time meetings with the Bullets (2-5, 0-3) and their five-goal output is the highest by either team in the all-time series.
Davis gave the Shorewomen the lead with a goal off an assist from senior attack Jackie O'Connell (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) with 17:06 left in the first half. Sophomore midfielder Alli Dudley (New Windsor, Md./Francis Scott Key) upped the lead to 2-0 with 10:24 remaining in the period before Julia Cranna scored the Bullets' lone goal of the day with 3:50 to play before halftime. Davis scored her second goal of the afternoon, this one off an assist from junior defender Jordan Mitchell (Centreville, Md./Queen Anne's County) with just 1:35 remaining before the break.
Davis added two more goals in the second half, one with 27:17 left and the other with 21:09 to play.
Washington held a 13-8 advantage in shots and a 13-6 edge in penalty corners in the win. Junior goalkeeper Sadie Robertson (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Township) made one save for the Shorewomen. Haley Mowery started the game in goal for the Bullets and made four saves. Ronnie Bridges played the second half and made two saves.
The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Bryn Mawr.
