Morgan Wins Three Individual Events for Shoremen
CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- Junior Lucas Morgan (Allendale, N.J./Northern Highlands Regional) won three individual events and the host Washington College men's swim team captured 12 of 14 first-place finishes overall as the Shoremen handed visiting Widener University its first loss of the season, 175-86, tonight inside Casey Swim Center. The Shoremen improved to 4-1 with the win, while the Pride dropped to 6-1-1 with the loss.
Morgan won the 1000 freestyle in 10:22.79, the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.83, and the 200 breaststroke in 2:12.65. Sophomore Brent Hochstein (Towsend, Del./Salesianum School) and junior Charles Logan (Durham, N.C./Riverside) each won two individual events. Hochstein won the 200 butterfly in 2:02.36 and the 200 individual medley in 2:06.95 and added a second-place finish in the 200 breaststroke in 2:19.38. Logan won both backstroke events, taking the 100 backstroke in 55.97 and the 200 backstroke in 2:04.39.
Senior Austin Yocum (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest), junior Brent Longenecker (Maytown, Pa./Donegal), and senior Greg Lee (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) each won one individual event and placed second in another. Yocum won the 200 freestyle in 1:47.58 and was second in the 500 freestyle in 5:01.30, Longenecker won the 50 freestyle in 22.21, and Lee won the 100 butterfly in 53.47 and took second in the 200 butterfly in 2:04.74.
Sophomore Pat Elliott (Media, Pa./Salesianum School [Del.]) won the 500 freestyle for the Shoremen in 4:58.44. Logan, Morgan, Lee, and Yocum captured the 200 medley relay in 1:39.61. Freshman Finny Dorsch (Towson, Md./Loyola Blakefield) placed second in the 1000 freestyle in 10:37.62, while freshman Cody Weiler (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area) was second in the 100 backstroke in 56.95.
The Shoremen return to action tomorrow with a 1:00 p.m. home non-conference meet against Elizabethtown.
