Blue Jays Prevail Over Shoremen In Offensive Minded Match, 4-3

Barclay, Holowesko and Wilkinson Score For Shoremen

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Samy Ramadame scored the game-winning goal with 7:30 remaining in the contest to give visiting Johns Hopkins a 4-3 win over host Washington College on Saturday afternoon in a Centennial Conference men's soccer match at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium.  The Blue Jays improve to 10-4-3 overall and 5-2-2 in the Centennial, while the Shoremen have their season come to a close a 9-8-0 and 3-6-0 respectively.

How It Happened
-The Blue Jays scored twice in a 3:58 span of the first half to take a 2-0 lead.  Andrew Park scored at the 17:58 mark and Eric Herbert cashed in at 21:56.  Both goals were results of stealing Washington clearing attempts.  Park scored his into the lower right corner, while Herbert's went into the lower left.
-The Shoremen got onto the board at 35:39 when Aaron Barclay scored his first career goal as he put home the rebound of a Brian Graham shot.  Graham got the assist on the score to trim the guests lead to 2-1 and that would be the halftime score.
-Washington leveled the match at 2-2 when Christian Cooke stole a Johns Hopkins clearing pass and crossed it to Brian Wilkinson who put it into the lower left corner from 12 yards out at 58:29.
-Johns Hopkins regained the lead in transition as Ramadame dribbled down the left side and his cross found Cole Rosenberger who placed it into the lower right corner of the goal to make it 3-2 with exactly 20:00 to go.
-The Shoremen would tie the game for the second time at 3-3 with 11:54 left in the match when Michael Holowesko headed in a free kick from Dimitri Kaliakin after a foul by the Blue Jays.
-Johns Hopkins was able to draw a penalty kick that led to the game-winning tally as a Blue Jay was fouled in the box.  Ramadame's penalty kick to the lower right corner was stopped by Washington goalkeeper David Myers, but the rebound went right to Ramadame who put the ball into an empty net for the winning tally.
-The Shoremen's final chance came 70 seconds after the go ahead goal, but the shot by Cody Gray went just wide to the left with 6:20 remaining.

-Scorers: Barclay (1 goal), Holowesko (1 goal), Wilkinson (1 goal), Cooke (1 assist), Graham (1 assist), Kaliakin (1 assist)
-In Goal: Myers (7 saves, 4 goals allowed, 90:00)
-Washington had 16 shots and five corner kicks in the match.

For Johns Hopkins (10-4-3, 5-2-2 CC)
-Scorers: Ramadame (1 goal and 1 assist), Herbert (1 goal), Park (1 goal), Rosenberger (1 goal)
-In Goal: Bryan See (4 saves, 3 goals allowed, 90:00)
-The Blue Jays had 21 shots and seven corner kicks in the contest.

Notes
-Tonight marked the final match in a Washington uniform for Gray, Myers, Jack Butler and Chris Koch.
-Kaliakin finished with a career-high nine assists this season and has 20 helpers in his career.
-The 9-8-0 record is the team's first winning season in 12 years as the 2003 team went 9-5-3.
