Elliott Becomes First Shoreman to Break 10 Minutes in 1000 Freestyle, Morgan Breaks Pool Record in 400 Individual Medley
CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Junior Pat Elliott (Media, Pa./Salesianum School [Del.]) became the first swimmer in team history to swim the 1000 freestyle in under 10 minutes and senior Lucas Morgan (Allendale, N.J./Northern Highlands Regional) broke the Casey Swim Center record in the 400 individual medley as the Washington College men's swim team remained unbeaten this season with a 137-67 win over visiting St. Mary's this afternoon.

How It Happened
- Elliott's school-record time of 9:58.83 in the 1000 freestyle broke the previous record of 10:03.78 set by Morgan last season. Elliott also won the 100 backstroke in 55.30.
- Morgan won three individual events for the fourth time in as many meets this season. His pool-record time of 4:14.84 in the 400 individual medley was his first victory of the night, followed by a 4:56.46 in the 500 freestyle and a 1:00.34 in the 100 breaststroke.
- The Shoremen won both relay events, opening the meet with a 1:39.69 in the 200 medley relay delivered by Charles Logan, Kevin Mackenzie, Brent Longenecker, and Karl Melchior. They finished the meet with a 1:30.00 winning time in the 200 freestyle relay from Melchior, Cody Weiler, DJ Bradshaw, and Longenecker.
- Weiler added a win in the 50 freestyle in 22.10 and a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle in 49.19. Longenecker accounted for the Shoremen's other first-place finish, winning the 100 butterfly in 53.25.
- Mackenzie placed second in both the 200 freestyle in 1:50.18 and in the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.85. Brent Hochstein was second in the 400 individual medley in 4:25.41.
Notes
- The Shoremen improved to 4-0 with the win, while the Seahawks dropped to 4-3 with the loss.
