Box Score Fourth Straight Shutout Win to Open Season is Program First
CHESTERTOWN, Md. — The Washington College men's soccer team's historic start to the 2015 season continued this afternoon as the Shoremen scored four goals, including three in a span of 1:48, in the second half of a 5-0 win over visiting Albright College this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Shoremen have now won their first four games of the season by shutout for the first time in the team's 70 years of play. Washington is also 4-0 for the first time since 1973. Nine different players factored into the scoring for Washington.

How It Happened
- The best scoring chance of the early going came in the 21st minute when Brian Wilkinson headed a ball just wide of the goal off a well-placed pass from Derek Stiles.
- Washington got on the board with a highlight-reel play as a bicycle kick by Cole Strong was saved by a leaping Austin Aldinger and sent out back into play where Jack Butler buried the ball into the back of the net in the 26th minute.
- The Shoremen nearly scored again in the 27th as Skyler Clark send a beautiful ball ahead to Wilkinson, who raced to the goal with Aldinger out of the net. A sliding tackle by Josh Linsmeier stuffed the ball out of bounds just as it was coming off Wilkinson's foot.
- Washington finished with an 8-1 advantage in shots in the first half.
- Thompson put a well-placed shot on goal in the 52nd, but Aldinger made a diving stop to his right to make the save.
- The Shoremen's second goal came when Michael Holowesko knocked in a free kick sent by Dimitri Kaliakin in the 61st minute.
- Thirty-nine seconds later, the score stretched to 3-0 on an own goal when a Cody Gray cross was inadvertently sent into the net by an Albright defender.
- Sixty-nine seconds following the own goal, Chris Lewandowski scored off a double assist from Brian Wilkinson and Gray. Gray sent the ball ahead to Wilkinson, who won the ball at midfield. Wilkinson went down the left side and sent it to Lewandowski, who slipped it past Aldinger as the lead grew to 4-0.
- Clark tacked on Washington's fifth goal in the 72nd minute. Clark knocked the ball away from an Albright player near midfield, sent the ball to Brian Graham and cut down the field. Graham dribbled ahead and sent a perfectly-placed ball to Clark, who beat Aldinger to the ball and sent the ball into the upper middle of the net.

Notes
- The Shoremen's 1973 team, the last to start 4-0, advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
- Washington's last streak of four straight shutouts of any kind was in 1996. Its last streak of four straight shutout victories was in 1994.
- The Shoremen opened the 1978 season with six consecutive shutouts, but the third game in that streak was a scoreless tie.
- Kaliakin's assist was his fifth of the season and 16th of his collegiate career, giving him sole possession of fifth place on the Shoremen's all-time career list.
- All three of Holowesko's goals this season have been assisted by Kaliakin.
