Thompson Scores in Loss for Shoremen

DOVER, Del. — Adrian Coverdale scored the game-winning goal on a header in the 94th minute to give host Wesley College a 2-1 overtime win over visiting Washington College in non-conference men's soccer action tonight on Drass Field at Scott D. Miller Stadium.

Wesley 2, Washington College 1 (OT)

How It Happened
- Cody Gray had an early shot on goal for the Shoremen saved by a charging Zack Baker in the fourth minute.
- A header by Brian Wilkinson in the seventh minute off a corner kick from Dimitri Kaliakin went just high of the goal.
- Brian Graham took a shot from the right of the goal in the 38th that was stopped by Baker, keeping the game scoreless.
- The Shoremen held a 6-2 advantage in shos and 3-1 edge in corner kicks in the first half.
- The Wolverines looked the have a great chance to score in the 49th minute as Will Mileski played a ball past Washington goalkeeper Jonathan Wendeborn, but Wendeborn got up and scrambled to cover the ball before Mileski could get a shot off.
- Wendeborn then made a diving save to his left on a header by Patrick Schlosser in the 52nd. 
- Wendeborn made a pair of impressive back-to-back saves in the 60th, dropping down to stop a hard shot by Avery Brice and then following that up with a stop on a near point-black put-back attempt by Coverdale.
- Washington finally broke through in the 65th as Drew Thompson followed up a shot off the foot of Chris Lewandowski that was saved by Baker, putting it into the back of the net at 64:02.
- In the 74th, Bryant Rashford looked for the equalizer, attempting a quick strike from just outside of the box. Wendeborn dove to his left, but the ball went just wide of the goal anyway.
- The Wolverines tied the score in the 84th as Mileski scored off a well-placed pass ahead by Danny Garza at 83:26.
- Wesley had a 7-5 advantage in shots and a 3-2 edge in corner kicks in the second half.
- Coverdale's winner was the only shot of overtime as he converted on a free kick sent from near midfield by Kyle Jackson at 93:39.

- Scorers: Thompson (1 goal), Lewandowski (1 assist)
- Goalkeeper: Wendeborn (4 saves, 2 goals allowed, 93:39)
- The Shoremen finished the game with 11 shots and five corner kicks.

For Wesley (2-5-1)
- Scorers: Mileski (1 goal), Coverdale (1 goal), Garza (1 assist), Jackson (1 assist)
- Goalkeeper: Baker (3 saves, 1 goal allowed, 93:39)
- The Wolverines had 10 shots and four corner kicks in the game.
